Mark is the son of Dr. Claffey and Dr. Ayvaz-zadeh and was born and raised in Edmonton. He has been helping his parents at AMC since he was young, sharing landscaping duties with his brothers. He currently works in reception and in the boarding wing, as he has been since 2009.
I’ve enjoyed working at the Animal Medical Centre and growing up with it being a part of my life. I was introduced to pets at a young age of course, as we always had cats and dogs in the house. I was often brought into work, allowing me to spend time with the pets currently staying there.
I grew up playing a variety of sports in Edmonton, including hockey, lacrosse, and rugby. I graduated from Strathcona Composite High School in 2008 and, after taking some time off to pursue hockey, started attending Grant MacEwan University. I enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce program (business) in 2010. I have since begun working at TD Canada Trust as well, keeping myself very busy with two jobs and school.
If you’ve been to AMC a few times over the past twelve years, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Audio. He’s Dr. Claffey’s border collie and he’s a very happy and friendly old guy. We used to have problems with him biting others, especially children, but in his old age he has calmed down and has learned to be friends with everybody. He is unfortunately getting older and it has been showing… But, he’s very happy and, other than some joint pain, his body is still holding up well.
